Challenge: IT infrastructure and security have become a critical area when assessing an acquisition target. Every company, big or small, has hidden technology risks that must be factored into the total cost of an acquisition, merger or carve-out.

Solution: Thoma Bravo uses Paranet’s ParaVerify IT™ due diligence as part of the discovery process to review and catalog all risks, costs and opportunities associated with the target company’s IT infrastructure and make recommendations on necessary remediation. Thoma Bravo also uses Paranet to perform the subsequent IT work including executing the build-out, migrations and stand-up, adding speed and continuity to the process. 

Results: Thoma Bravo has brought Paranet in on dozens of M&A deals over the last 15 years. Embarcadero Success Story: Virtualization, Business Continuity, and Network Optimization. 

Client Snapshot: Embarcadero Technologies is one of the world’s leading innovators of software applications and database tools.

IT Environment: Embarcadero had approximately 500 employees and servers in 12 offices around the world.

Challenge: This project had several challenges, including a complex, worldwide IT integration and consolidation goal. Embarcadero also wanted to improve business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.

Solution: After conducting an in-depth analysis of Embarcadero’s IT environment using our Compass Methodology™, we executed a four-step plan that included network standardization, improving network collaboration, and a hardware refresh. We also leveraged existing technologies to improve business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.  

Results: We executed our plan without impacting operational activities, achieved a virtualization ratio of approximately 35:1, and reduced Embarcadero’s annual operational data center expenses by one-third.

Client Snapshot: Great Wolf Resorts, an icon in the hospitality industry, is the largest family of indoor waterpark resorts in North America.

IT Environment: Great Wolf’s ERP and ESP systems spanned the country’ 11 resorts. 

Challenge: Great Wolf had no full view of its existing customer base, managing promotional campaigns was difficult and time-intensive, and there was limited integration and segmentation ability.

Solution: After agreeing that Infor Epiphany Marketing was the best way to gain customer insights and improve targeting, Paranet helped Great Wolf take the necessary steps to begin the transition. The process took about 90 days from discovery to launch. 

 

Results: Great Wolf Resorts can now easily send automated marketing campaigns that can be customized to targeted contacts. The company’s email marketing manager significantly reduced the amount of time he spends managing campaigns, and Great Wolf can gather data from customer surveys and use the information to create a better guest experience.

IT Environment: Hospice Compassus had 33 Microsoft Windows 2003 and 2008 physical and virtual servers across 49 locations, Sybase (Cerner) operating systems, Microsoft Exchange 2010, SharePoint, MAS90, Citrix, Active Directory Applications, and more than 10 terabytes of data.
 
Challenge: The health care industry is highly regulated, and Hospice Compassus need a solution that would not only keep personal health information safe and accessible, but also comply with the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. Additionally, Hospice Compasses’ CIO wanted to leverage existing VMware technology that was used across multiple locations.
 
Solution: Hospice Compassus’ CIO worked closely with Paranet to find the best solution for the company. After careful deliberation, they decided that an EVault Plug-n-Protect, coupled with EVault software and products, would be the best tool to back up, replicate, and, if necessary, recover all patient data. Compassus employees can also use this system to access all the data remotely.
 

Results: Hospice Compassus can now securely monitor and manage its data from any location. The solution is also scalable, allowing the company to adjust its storage options when necessary. If a disaster strikes, EVault can recover all data within 24 hours.
